


Or do you mean multiplayer? Much harder to answer, for one it isn't really "necessary" or even makes that much sense to necessary play both in multiplayer. Looking for something to play single player? I don't think it makes a huge difference, I'd probably play SC1 first and then go for SC2, just because you might otherwise miss some of the QoL changes if you do it the other way around, also that way the story probably makes more sense, multiple returning characters, continuing storylines, etc.
